Date announced: June 8, 2026 (expands a February 17, 2026 recall)
Type: Voluntary recall
Pets affected: Cats and dogs
Reason: Possible low thiamine (vitamin B1)
What happened
Go Raw LLC, maker of Steve's Real Food, expanded its February recall of Quest Cat Food products to include one lot of Steve's Real Food Freeze-Dried Chicken Recipe that may not contain enough thiamine. Thiamine is essential for cats and dogs; a long-term deficiency can cause loss of appetite, vomiting, weight loss, weakness, balance problems, and seizures. The company says the lot is no longer believed to be on store shelves and current products use an updated vitamin mix.
Affected product
- Steve's Real Food Chicken Recipe Freeze Dried, 1.25 lb bag, Lot C26022, UPC 6-91730-16402-7, Best By 1/22/2028
What to do
- Check your pantry for this lot. If you have it, stop feeding it.
- If your pet has eaten it regularly and shows any of the signs above, contact your veterinarian. Thiamine deficiency is usually reversible when treated early.
