MCT Oil – Internal Yeast Support
This human-grade C8/C10 MCT Oil from NOW Foods is the fat-based antifungal used in our Balanced by Nature™ Yeast Protocol. It supports gut balance, helps starve internal yeast, and provides clean metabolic energy without carbs.
Why It Works
Our MCT Oil is a therapeutic blend of Caprylic (C8) and Capric (C10) acids—two medium-chain fats shown to:
-
Break down yeast cell membranes
-
Support a balanced gut microbiome
-
Provide rapid, clean energy with no sugar or starch
We specifically avoid Lauric Acid (C12) because it can irritate digestion and may worsen yeast in sensitive dogs.
This formula is rapidly absorbed, gentle on the gut, and ideal for internal yeast support.
How It Fits Into Our Yeast Protocol
Internal yeast is best addressed using multiple angles. Our Balanced by Nature™ Yeast Protocol uses three internal supports:
-
Garlic – breaks down yeast biofilm
-
Olive Leaf Glycerite – inhibits yeast reproduction
-
C8/C10 MCT Oil – disrupts yeast membranes and supports gut balance
Together, these address the root imbalance, not just the symptoms on the skin.

When Not to Use MCT Oil (Important for Yeast Cases)
MCT Oil is a powerful gut-focused antifungal, but it is not appropriate for every yeast dog.
If your dog has skin-based yeast (Malassezia), added oils can sometimes make symptoms worse.
Avoid or reduce MCT Oil if your dog has:
-
Greasy or oily coat
-
Waxy orange/brown ear debris
-
Brown paw staining
-
Yeasty “corn chip” smell
-
Oily armpits, groin, belly, or tail base
-
Flaky skin stuck to grease
-
Recurrent skin or ear yeast infections
These signs mean yeast is living in the skin’s oil glands (sebum).
Because dietary fat can increase natural skin oil production, some dogs flare when extra oils are added—even beneficial ones like MCT.
When MCT Oil Is Appropriate
MCT Oil is extremely helpful when yeast is primarily internal, showing up as:
-
Soft or inconsistent stool
-
Gas, bloating, or digestive discomfort
-
Itching after eating carbs
-
“Sugar cravings” or constant hunger
-
Yeasty odor without oily skin
-
Chronic ear issues with clean skin
-
Paw licking without greasy build-up
This type of yeast starts in the gut, not the skin, and responds beautifully to MCT Oil—especially when combined with Garlic and Olive Leaf Glycerite.
